A False Alarm
虚惊一场
The long-waited National Day has finally arrived.
等待已久的国庆节终于到来了。
Fangce goes to his grandparents with his parents.
方策和他的爸爸妈妈去了他姥爷姥姥家。
They have a happy holiday there.
他们在那里度过了一个愉快的假期。
On October the 7th they go home by car.
10月7日，他们驾车回家。
They get home very late and it’s completely dark.
他们很晚才到家，这时天完全黑了。
They go upstairs.
他们上楼了。
Daddy takes out of the key to the front door and inserts it in the lock.
爸爸拿出钥匙，插进锁里。
Just then, daddy whispers: “Be quiet! Listen carefully. It seems that there are two or three people talking in the room.”
正在此时，爸爸小声说:“安静！仔细听。房间里好像有两三个人在说话。”
They all stop at once and hold their breath.
他们都立刻停下来屏住呼吸。
“You are right!” Lucy says in a low voice, “Maybe two thieves are in the room.”
“你说得对！”露西低声说:“也许房子里有两个小偷。”
Fangce is a brave boy.
方策是个勇敢的男孩。
He flings the front door open and dash into the room.
他猛地推开前门，冲进房间。
He shouts loudly, “Who’s there, come out!”
他大声喊道:“谁在那儿，出来！”
And at the same time he switches on the light.
同时他打开了灯。
The room is bright at once.
房间立刻亮了。
But there is no one in the room.
但是房间里没有人。
It turned out that Fangce forgot to turn off the TV before leaving.
原来方策离开前忘了关电视。
Two men are having talk show on the TV now.
两个人正在电视上表演脱口秀。
Fangce says: “I left home in a hurry that morning, so I forgot to turn it off.”
方策说道：“那天早上我匆忙离开家，所以忘记关了。”
Fangce is really a careless boy.
